Drawing > La Familia

La Familia examines my Puerto Rican heritage by rendering portraits of my parents and relatives as children—versions of them I never knew. These small-scale drawings require close observation, creating a meditative space to contemplate their untold stories and the fullness of their lives before I came into existence.

I want to explore the limitations and possibilities of perspective and memory, acknowledging how we can only understand our family through fragments. By meticulously translating these captured moments, I seek to honor family connections while questioning what remains forever unknowable about those closest to us.
